Bantwal, Jan 2: The 23rd Kannada Sahitya Sammelana of Bantwal taluk will be held on January 4 and 5 at Manchi Kolnadu Government High School under the chairmanship of senior writer and children's author Mulia Shankar Bhat, popularly known as Eleyara Geleyara Mulia. The event details were announced by Bantwal taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Vishwanath Bantwal and reception committee president Satish Kumar Alva.
Addressing a press conference at Kannada Bhavana, BC Road, on Wednesday evening, they shared the schedule of the event.
On January 4, the Kannada Bhuvaneshwari procession will commence at 3 pm from Siddhi Vinayak Bhajana Mandira, Kukkaje. Dr Mukund Prabhu will inaugurate the exhibition, while Chandrahass Rai Balajibailu will open the book fair. The literary festival will be inaugurated by Dr Nagaveni Manchi, a Kannada professor. MLA Rajesh Naik Ulippady, MP Brijesh Chowta, and former minister B Ramanath Rai will be among the chief guests.
The cultural segment following the inaugural session will feature a Babhruvahana Kalaga Yakshagana and Agrapooje performance by students of Manchi Kolnadu High School.
On January 5, the second day will begin with Gamaka Vachana at 9 am, followed by a dialogue with Sammelana president Mulia Shankar Bhat. Later, cultural programs will showcase vibrant dance performances.
At 10:30 am, a Kavi Goshti (poets' meet), recitations, singing, and art activities will take place under the presidency of Anitha Naresh Manchi. This will be followed by a discussion on agriculture and literature chaired by Sankappa Shetty. Cultural performances by school children will continue thereafter.
At 1 pm, Dr Veena Tolpadi and Anasuya Rao Salettur will deliver lectures. At 2 pm, awards will be presented to various organizations, followed by felicitation of achievers at 3 pm.
The valedictory ceremony is scheduled for 4 pm, presided over by Kannada Sahitya Parishat district president Dr MP Srinath. Scholar Hiranya Venkateshwar Bhat will deliver the valedictory address. Cultural performances will conclude the event.
Legislator Rajesh Naik, former minister B Ramanath Rai, and police officer Dharanidevi Malagatti served as honorary presidents of the reception committee. Multiple subcommittees have been formed to ensure the event's success, with support from the school development committee, teaching staff, alumni, students, and parents.
Art teacher teams have already started creating vibrant decorations in the venue, creating a literary festival atmosphere in Manchi and Kolnadu.
