Udupi, Sep 15: Adani Power Limited’s Udupi Thermal Power Plant, located at Yellur in Kapu Taluk of Udupi District, through its CSR implementation arm Adani Foundation, today conducted the groundbreaking ceremony for the development of five roads in Yellur Gram Panchayat under its annual CSR programme, as part of its rural infrastructure development initiatives.
The works, estimated at a total cost of approximately Rs 20 lac were formally inaugurated with a groundbreaking ceremony by Kishore Alva, Executive Director & President, Adani Group, in the presence of Panchayat Development Officer Pradeep, Administrative Officer Sunil and local residents.





Speaking on the occasion, Kishore Alva said that the Adani Group acquired the Udupi power plant in 2015 and, since then, has been implementing several development initiatives every year under its CSR programmes in the villages surrounding the plant.
He said that Adani Foundation has been undertaking various CSR initiatives in the areas of education, healthcare, promotion of rural sports and arts, social forestry and rural infrastructure development, with the objective of contributing to the overall development of the communities in and around the plant.
Alva said that the Adani Group has earmarked a special CSR allocation for rural infrastructure development across seven Gram Panchayats surrounding the plant. Based on the annual action plans submitted by the respective Gram Panchayats, the Foundation takes up and implements various development works in a phased manner.
During the current financial year, Yellur Gram Panchayat had submitted an action plan for the development of five roads, and accordingly, Adani Foundation has taken up the works at an estimated project cost of Rs 20 lac, he said.
Alva further stated that approximately 43% of the total CSR allocation of Adani Foundation for the Adani Power Limited Udupi plant is being utilised specifically for various infrastructure development initiatives, reflecting the Group’s continued focus on strengthening rural infrastructure in the surrounding communities.
He also said that the Adani Group has separately earmarked Rs. 3.77 crore for rural infrastructure development in Padubidri Gram Panchayat, of which development works amounting to approximately Rs. 3.45 crore have already been completed.
Alva further stated that since 2015-16, the Adani Group has earmarked approximately Rs. 22.73 crore under its CSR programme for infrastructure development across the seven Gram Panchayats surrounding the plant. The development works are being implemented by Adani Foundation in a phased manner based on the annual action plans submitted by the respective Gram Panchayats and are being made available for the benefit of the local communities.
Of the total allocation, development works amounting to approximately Rs.18 crore have already been completed by Adani Foundation in 7 surrounding Grama Panchayats, he added.
