Beltangady: Missing couple from different communities found; marry in temple

Daijiworld Media Network – Beltangady (MS)

Beltangady, Jan 12: A Muslim girl who went missing a week ago has been found married to a Hindu boy.

Harish Gowda and the Muslim girl got married as per Hindu tradition at Kothrottu Sri Satyanarayana Temple and later reported to the Dharmasthala police station.

Harish Gowda, a resident of Petrame in Beltangady taluk, became acquainted with the Muslim girl, a Moodbidri native, on Facebook. They had been in love for the past year. A week ago, the Muslim girl, who had gone to her computer classes, did not return home. Her parents subsequently filed a complaint at the Moodbidri police station.

On January 10, Harish and the Muslim girl got married in the temple and also registered their marriage at the Beltangady marriage registrar's office.

The Muslim girl’s parents arrived in Beltangady upon learning about their daughter's whereabouts. However, they returned home after the couple informed them that they were married.

I know many Muslim girls who have run away and married Hindu boys. It is usually not reported in the media. We hear such news only when Muslim boys marry Hindu girls.

this is called GANDHARVA VIVAH...will not last for long for sure. with so much diversity in religions and especially in a divided society like India it is better not to venture into these kind of adventures.

Married life is lot of hard work and lot of unvalued sacrifices. After initial, honeymoon phase, couples realize the challenges of married life. Faith, family support and cultural practices are very important factors to be considered for marriage especially if you want to live in India. In my opinion, inter faith marriages put lot of strain on couples or atleast on one partner. Over the time, many do realize that it was probably not a good idea.i believe, lesser the differences, more chance of happy and resent free marriage. Anyway good luck
