Beltangady, Jan 12: A Muslim girl who went missing a week ago has been found married to a Hindu boy.
Harish Gowda and the Muslim girl got married as per Hindu tradition at Kothrottu Sri Satyanarayana Temple and later reported to the Dharmasthala police station.
Harish Gowda, a resident of Petrame in Beltangady taluk, became acquainted with the Muslim girl, a Moodbidri native, on Facebook. They had been in love for the past year. A week ago, the Muslim girl, who had gone to her computer classes, did not return home. Her parents subsequently filed a complaint at the Moodbidri police station.
On January 10, Harish and the Muslim girl got married in the temple and also registered their marriage at the Beltangady marriage registrar's office.
The Muslim girl’s parents arrived in Beltangady upon learning about their daughter's whereabouts. However, they returned home after the couple informed them that they were married.
