Kannada Book Authority launches ‘Library for Each Home’ scheme

Bengaluru, Jan 13: Kannada Book Authority’s ambitious programme, ‘Library for each Home’, was launched by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at his Home Office of Krishna in Bengaluru on Monday.

The Chief Minister also released the Kumara VyasaBharata volumes brought out by the KDA.

The Library for each Home programme was first established in Krishna by leading litterateur Dr Hampa Nagarajaiah, while KDA chairman Dr Purushotham Bilimale unveiled the nameplate of the Library.

The KDA is planning to establish libraries in one lakh houses as part of its drive to inculcate the habit of reading in the younger generation.

Those interested to establish libraries in their homes are requested to contact the KDA, which will arrange literateurs and writers for a function to establish the library and will issue a certificate.

The Kumara Vyasa Bharata is being published by the KDA and sold to the public at a nominal price of R 500 for the two volumes.

Salient features of Library for each Home

• The owner/head of the house can establish the library with a collection of 100 books.
• Purchasing of books and their protection is the responsibility of house owner.
• The KDA will arrange inauguration by scholars, writers, artistes and other dignitaries.
• The KDA will also arrange publicity.
• A library vigilance committee will be established at taluk/district level.
• The committee will take up the responsibility of giving encouragement and maintaining close contacts with the libraries.
