Goa CM lays foundation stone for center of excellence project under Tata technologies

Panaji, Jan 31: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant laid the foundation stone for the Center of Excellence Project under Tata Technologies Ltd at ITI Altinho, Panjim, on Thursday. The initiative aims to enhance skill development and job opportunities for the youth of the state.

The Chief Minister also virtually inaugurated similar centers at five locations—Bicholim, Vasco, Farmagudi, Cacora, and Mapusa—in the presence of key officials, including Education Secretary Prasad Lolyekar, Director of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship SS Gaonkar, Tata Technologies South India Head Prashant Handigund, and IMC Chairman Gaurish Dhond.

The Rs 214-cr project is a collaboration between Tata Technologies and the Goa government, with Tata Technologies contributing Rs 214 cr, while the state government will invest Rs 49 cr. Speaking on the occasion, CM Sawant reaffirmed his government's commitment to strengthening infrastructure for Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across Goa.

"I welcome and congratulate Tata Technologies and DSDE for establishing the Center of Excellence in Goa. The Goa government is steadfast in its commitment to building ITI infrastructure in the state. I am confident that these centers will equip youth with essential skills for employment and entrepreneurship," Sawant stated in a post on X.

Earlier in the day, CM Sawant paid homage to martyrs on the occasion of Martyrs’ Day at Azad Maidan, Panaji, in the presence of Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai.

On Wednesday, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Sci-Fi Science Film Festival of India, organized by Vidnyan Parishad Goa in Panaji. The festival, themed "Green Revolution," celebrates science, innovation, and sustainability, aiming to inspire young minds towards a greener future.
