Dubai, Feb 14: In today’s world of Konkani art and culture, Dubai can be rightly called a ‘Mini – Mangaluru’ with the great number of Konkani programmes, that have been taking place since more than three decades. Some years back there were nearly 35 parochial associations were in Dubai which only shows proof that people of Mangaluru want to preserve their culture, their tradition and be in tune of the activities taking place back home. It also helps to keep alive the festive spirit by getting together as one family to celebrate ‘New Harvest Feast’ or ‘Monthi Feast’ with traditional noven jevnchem, Vodlen Feast, Natalan Feast etc.

With changing times and strict rules, seniors’ retirements, migration of youth to USA or to other European countries, the number of Mangalurean associations in UAE has declined to minimal over the years. Facing all the struggles and tiring efforts, one association still serving the community with same enthusiasm and energy is the, Karaval Milan.

Karaval Milan is all set to kick start its silver jubilee year with a sports extravaganza on February 16. This mega sports event will be organised at Al Manara Indoor Sports Hall, Jumeirah from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. Top class teams with reputed India state-international players from Karnataka state and residents of UAE will be in action for volley ball for men and throw ball for men and women.

Besides the trophies and prizes, Karaval Milan has always thrown the surprises with cash prizes and surprise events during their previous sports events which entertained a large number of crowd and Mangalurean sports enthusiasts residing in UAE are always looking forward for Karaval Milan sports event.

Karaval Milan president Melwyn Cornelio is all set with his team to make this event an ever memorable one with grand success and requested all sports enthusiasts of UAE to be at venue on time and support all the participating teams.
