Mangaluru: Srinivas University, Group institutions celebrate Founders, College Day

Mangaluru, Feb 14: The Founders Day and College Day of Srinivas University and Srinivas Group of Institutions were held at the Srinivas University Mukka campus on Friday, February 14.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest of the programme, Krishna Hegde Miyar, HR, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) congratulated the management of Srinivas University for having clear vision and mission for the betterment and development of young minds, and transforming the society through education.

He said, education is the way to go forward in life, to get success in life and education helps in the upliftment of society. Honourable chancellor of Srinivas University and president of A Shama Rao Foundation Mangalore, Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao, emphasised in his presidential address that he was inspired by his father, Adka Shama Rao, hence Srinivas Group of Institutions was established in the year 1988 and later on the Srinivas University was established.

"Building up the humanity and education are very important. Skill Development is still more important. Develop the ideas, work hard with dedication and sincerity, which will bring success in life," he said. He advised students to be humble, simple and polite in life, that will bring more name and fame, and wealth too.

The guest of honour, honourable pro chancellor of Srinivas University and vice president of A Shama Rao Foundation Mangalore, Dr A Srinivas Rao, welcomed the gathering and congratulated all the award winners.

As part of the Founder's Day celebrations at Srinivas Hospital, a newborn girl will receive an initial contribution of Rs 1000 under the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana. This noble initiative is a significant step toward ensuring the security and education of girls, promoting their brighter future.

Srinivas University and Srinivas Group of Colleges felicitated achievers with awards on the occasion of Founders' Day across various fields.

The A Shama Rao Foundation recognised the contributions of teachers at the high school and PU college levels in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district.

Sudha (reacher, Social Science and English, Sri Sharada High School, Panemangalore) and Ravichandra (lecturer, Govt PU College, Katipalla, Krishnapura) were awarded the A. Shama Rao Memorial Outstanding Teacher Award – 2025 for their contributions to education in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district.

Ramakrishna Mayya Siribagilu (Yakshagana Bhaghavatha, Dakshina Kannada) was selected for the A Shama Rao Memorial Outstanding Achievement Award for his contribution to the field of Yakshagana.

Karnataka Kalashree Geetha Saralaya (Director, Nrutya Bharati, Kadri, Mangalore) was selected for the A Shama Rao Memorial Outstanding Achievement Award for her contribution to the field of Fine Arts (Nrithya). Pathumudi Suryanarayana Rao was selected for the A Shama Rao Memorial Outstanding Achievement Award for his contribution to the field of Hospitality and Catering Service.

K Raghavendra Tantri was selected for the A Shama Rao Memorial Outstanding Achievement Award for his contribution to the field of Pourohithya and Astrology.

Eshwar Malpe was selected for the A Shama Rao Memorial Outstanding Achievement Award for his contribution to the field of Social Service. Jayalakshmi Bhat was selected for the A Shama Rao Memorial Outstanding Achievement Award for her contribution to the field of Fine Arts – Veena instrumental music.

B K Madhava Rao was selected for the A Shama Rao Memorial Outstanding Achievement Award for his contribution to the field of painting. Venkataramana Banninthaya was selected for the A. Shama Rao Memorial Outstanding Achievement Award – 2025 for his contribution to the field of Jothishya Shastra.

Srinivas University board of governors trustee member, A Vijayalakshmi R Rao, Srinivas University board of governors trustee member, Prof Er A Mithra S Rao, Srinivas University's honourable vice-chancellor, Dr. Sathyanarayanan Reddy, Srinivas University registrar, Dr Anil Kumar, registrar of evaluation, Dr Shrinivas Mayya D, registrar of development, Dr Ajay Kumar and Srinivas University various institutions deans were present.

Registrar of development Dr Ajay Kumar, delivered the vote of thanks. Dr Shwetha Pai, Dr Vijayalakshmi Nayak and Prof Rohan Fernandes, compered the event.
