Mangaluru, Feb 18: The Cricket Premier League (CPL) Season 2, held on February 15 and 16 at the Kashi Urva Grounds, was a grand success organised by the Canara Sports and Cultural Association (CSCA) under the leadership of CSCA president Vinod Pinto Thakode.
The tournament saw great participation and competitive spirit from 10 teams representing the Mangalore Diocese.
The opening ceremony was chaired by Rohan Monteiro, owner of Rohan Corporation, with several dignitaries in attendance. Stany Alvarez, the president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, and Sampath Shetty, Managing Partner of Lotus Property, also graced the event, with Rohan Monterio and Stani Alvarez offering their good wishes.

CSCA President Vinod Pinto Thakode welcomed the distinguished guests, and the program was hosted by Jaison Pereira Shirtoadi.
A special tribute was given to Roland Pinto, who has served as an umpire in under-arm cricket for 40 years.
The tournament saw 10 teams from the Mangalore Diocese competing, and all team owners were honored. The event took place over two days in a league format, with matches being played under lights.
Among the many distinguished guests, non-resident entrepreneur Michael D'Souza, the founder of Ivory Grand Real Estate, spent about an hour interacting with players and watching the matches.
The tournament concluded at 9:30 pm on February 16 with the closing ceremony, presided over by Mangalore Diocese PRO Roy Castellino. Key dignitaries at the closing ceremony included non-resident entrepreneur and film producer, Lieutenant General Ambassador Frank Fernandes, Nidhi Land chairman and MD Prashanth Sunil.
In recognition of her achievements, national-level throwball player Vilona D' Cunha was also honoured during the event.
Winners of the cricket tournament:
- Ninety Warriors (Led by Anil) – Rs 1 lac cash prize and Trophy
- Royal Strikers (Led by Marvin Lobo, Jitesh, and Roshan) – Rs 60,000 cash prize and Trophy
- El Do Rado (Led by Lionel and Naveen) – Rs 20,000 cash prize and Trophy
- JB Warriors (Led by Richard and Rajesh) – Rs 20,000 cash prize and Trophy

- Best All-Rounder: Jeevan (Ninety Warriors)
- Man of the Tournament: Glenson (Ninety Warriors)
- Imagine Player: Nitin (Royal Strikers)
- Best Batsman: Francis (Royal Strikers)
- Best Fielder: Vishwas (FM Strikers)
- Orange Cap Holder: Francis (Royal Strikers)
- Purple Cap Holder: Melroy (Ninety Warriors)
The CPL Season 2 was an exciting celebration of sportsmanship, with many prominent figures attending and wishing the players success.
