Mayooravarma Cultural Foundation celebrates 15th annual event with cultural excellence

Mumbai, Feb 18: The Mayooravarma Cultural Foundation celebrated its 15th annual event in style on Sunday, February 16, at the Mehta College Auditorium in Airoli, Navi Mumbai.

The event was a stunning display of cultural performances, awards, and recognition, highlighting the foundation's deep commitment to social change and the preservation of cultural heritage.

T R Madhusoodhan, president of Kannada Kala Kendra, who chaired the event, lauded the Foundation's efforts, emphasising the importance of integrity, dedication, and compassion in social work. “When organisations operate with sincerity and care, their contributions are truly meaningful,” he remarked.

Honouring the Pillars of Society and Culture
The event featured prominent guests, including Shri Ambika Annapoorneshwari Mandir’s head priest, V M Pernankila Haridas Bhat, who graced the occasion as the chief guest.

Other notable attendees included writer and lawyer Amita S Bhagwat, Mehta College chairman V N Hegde, and Tulu Koota Asalpa president Ramanath Kotyan.

The foundation awarded Dr Surendra Kumar Hegde, a well-known Yakshagana and theatre artiste, the prestigious Chakradhari Award for his significant contributions to the cultural field. The Krishi Bandhu Award was presented to Umamaheshwar Hegde, an agricultural leader known for his hard work in farming. Santosh Bhat Mudradi and Harish Hejmadi also offered words of appreciation during the award ceremony.

A special moment of the evening was the release of the book Tuluwaru, which showcases the Tulu-speaking community’s cultural heritage. Pernankila Haridas Bhat unveiled the book, adding to the evening's sense of cultural pride.

A night of dance and drama
The event also featured captivating performances. Women from Shri Geetambika Mandir, members of Dombivli’s Friends Self-reliance Center, children from Ghansoli’s Shri Mookambika Mandir, and other groups enthralled the audience with traditional dance performances.

The highlight of the cultural showcase was the mythological play Surya Prabha, performed by Kodadka Creations Mumbai. The play, directed by Ashok Kumar Kodadka, brought to life the captivating story of the sun god, blending traditional elements with contemporary performances.

A symbol of unity and service
The event was held with support from Jnana Vikas Mandal Airoli and Tulu Koota Asalpa, highlighting the Foundation’s commitment to bringing communities together. The evening concluded with prayers led by Malathi Putran.

Rajesh P Gowda Sindhoor, vice president of the Foundation, and treasurer Rajvarma Jain honoured the guests with floral tributes. Dr G P Kusuma introduced the programme, while the event was hosted by Suresh Shetty Kananjaru and Saroj Amati. Secretary Vishwanath Doddamane extended a warm welcome, wrapping up a truly successful and memorable event.

The Mayooravarma Cultural Foundation's 15th anniversary celebration was a testament to its ongoing dedication to cultural preservation and social service, marking a significant milestone in its journey.
