Kasargod: Man sentenced to 137 years in prison, fined Rs 7.5 lac for harassing minor girl

Kasargod, Feb 22: In a shocking verdict, a fast track special court in Kasargod has sentenced Valli D'Souza (47), a resident of Kulavayal, Moodambailu, Miyapadavu, to life imprisonment along with 137 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 7.5 lac for sexually harassing a minor girl.

The court has ruled that if the fine is not paid, the convict will have to serve an additional 28 months of rigorous imprisonment. The case dates back to March 2020 and was registered by Manjeshwar police.

As per the complaint, the accused took a 16-year-old girl in a car to an abandoned house in Kuloor, Miyapadavu, where he sexually harassed her. The accused has been charged under the Scheduled Caste-Scheduled Class (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
