Chennai, Feb 23: The DMK has intensified its criticism of the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with party MP A Raja declaring that the slogan ‘Shut up Modi’ will soon resonate in Parliament.
Speaking at a book release event at Anna Arivalayam, the DMK headquarters in Chennai, Raja said, "If Modi accuses DMK of dividing people using Tamil, can't we ask him whether he is dividing people on the basis of language? We first said ‘Go Back Modi,’ then our Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin said ‘Get Out Modi,’ and soon, we will say ‘Shut Up Modi’ in Parliament."

The DMK has a history of protests against PM Modi. During his visits to Tamil Nadu under the previous AIADMK regime, the party had raised the slogan ‘Go Back Modi’ while also releasing black balloons. Recently, after the Centre insisted that Tamil Nadu accept the National Education Policy (NEP) in exchange for Rs 2,151 cr under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, Udhayanidhi Stalin warned that the slogan had now changed to ‘Get Out Modi.’ The DMK later ensured the hashtag trended on social media.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu BJP spokesperson A N S Prasad hit back, stating that the DMK government should be dissolved for using such slogans against the Prime Minister.
"Unlike the dictatorial Congress regimes of the past, the Modi government is protecting the DMK government in the spirit of democracy," Prasad said.
He further warned the DMK not to misinterpret the Centre’s goodwill and added, “DMK leaders should mend their ways, or they will be corrected. Do not push Tamil Nadu toward a forced regime change."
