Prayagraj, Feb 24: As the grand Mahakumbh nears its culmination, millions of devotees continue to throng Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj to take the holy dip at the sacred Triveni Sangam. The religious fervor remains high, with an overwhelming influx of pilgrims witnessed each day.

Amidst the spiritual grandeur, authorities have taken strict action against misinformation being spread on social media regarding the event. Mahakumbh Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Vaibhav Krishna confirmed that 13 FIRs have been registered against 140 social media handles for sharing misleading content.

“Today alone, over one crore devotees have taken a dip. We have ensured complete arrangements for the upcoming Maha Shivratri celebrations on February 26. Measures have been taken to prevent traffic congestion and ensure seamless management,” he stated.

According to official reports, as of Sunday, approximately 8.773 million devotees have performed the ritualistic bath, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighting that a staggering 620 million pilgrims have visited the Mahakumbh so far.

Authorities at Ayodhya Dham Railway Station have implemented stringent crowd-control measures ahead of Maha Shivratri. DSP Yashwant Singh informed ANI that only passengers with arriving trains are being allowed onto platforms to prevent overcrowding.

“With heightened alertness, over 350 security personnel have been deployed. Barricading and designated holding areas have been set up, while continuous announcements keep pilgrims informed,” he added.

With the final holy dip scheduled for Maha Shivratri on February 26, the city is set to witness yet another massive influx of devotees, marking a grand conclusion to the sacred Mahakumbh.
