Lucknow, Feb 25: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday lashed out at the opposition for criticizing the Mahakumbh, stating that their biased views prevent them from appreciating its spiritual and economic significance.
Speaking in the state assembly on the motion of thanks to the governor’s address, Adityanath said that while devotees earned virtue and the poor found employment, critics only saw negativity.

"Vultures will only see dead bodies, but Mahakumbh has strengthened faith, created business opportunities, and showcased India’s hospitality," he remarked.
Targeting Leftists and socialists, he accused them of attempting to malign the grand religious gathering, calling it an insult to India's cultural heritage. "For the past month and a half, they have tried to spread negativity, but their propaganda has failed. Over 65 million devotees have reaffirmed their faith by taking a holy dip at Sangam," he added.
He also dismissed allegations of caste discrimination at the event, asserting that people from all backgrounds participated harmoniously. "Sanatan Dharma stands for inclusivity. Those trying to create chaos will face strict action," he warned.
Highlighting the BJP government’s development work since 2017, Adityanath credited the "double-engine government" for driving economic and spiritual progress. He expressed confidence in retaining power in the 2027 elections.
Slamming the SP for disrespecting Dalit leaders, he accused the previous government of sidelining figures like Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram. He also recalled the 1995 guest house incident involving Mayawati, highlighting the BJP’s commitment to honoring all great leaders.
"The Mahakumbh has sent a strong message of India’s unity to the world. Just like Ram Lalla’s Pran Pratishtha in Ayodhya, this event is both a spiritual and economic milestone," he concluded.
