Panaji, Mar 17: A social activist has filed a complaint against an assistant professor at Goa University for allegedly stealing question papers to help a 'special' student score high marks.

Activist Kashinath Shetye, along with several others, lodged a complaint at Agassaim police station, demanding strict action against the professor.

According to sources, the accused professor has been a close friend of a second-year postgraduate student since their college days. Allegedly, the professor leaked exam question papers to ensure the student achieved top scores in a previous examination.

The malpractice was reportedly noticed by other faculty members, who conducted an internal inquiry. Despite their suspicions, university authorities chose to issue only a warning rather than take strict action, leading to the matter being quietly settled.

Now, Shetye, along with social activists Inacio Pereira, Ramchandra Manjrekar, John Nazareth, Premindra Vernekar, Krishna Pandit, and Mariano Ferrao, has taken up the issue with the police.

Shetye has warned that if action is not taken within 24 hours, he will escalate the matter to the North Goa Superintendent of Police. If there is still no response, he intends to move the court.
