Bengaluru, Mar 23: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has asserted that Hindus in Bangladesh are India's responsibility, emphasizing that the country cannot evade this duty.
Speaking at a press conference during the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) in Bengaluru, RSS joint general secretary Arun Kumar stated, “The Hindu community in Bangladesh is our responsibility. We cannot escape from it. The Bharat that we proudly call our country has been shaped equally by Hindus from Bangladesh as much as by those from within India.”
Expressing concerns over the ongoing persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh, Kumar highlighted that India and Bangladesh share a deep historical and civilizational bond. He criticized Bangladesh for failing to uphold the Nehru-Liaquat Pact, which was meant to ensure the protection of minorities.
“This is an existential crisis for the Hindu community in Bangladesh. Recent violence has shown that even government institutions are involved in attacks on Hindus and other minorities,” he said, adding that international forces, including Pakistan and the "American deep state," are fueling anti-Hindu and anti-India sentiments in the region.
While acknowledging the Indian government’s diplomatic efforts, Kumar urged continued action until the situation normalizes. However, when asked if India should intervene to reinstate former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he maintained that it was for the people of Bangladesh to decide their leadership.
The RSS leader’s remarks come amid growing concerns over rising violence against minorities in Bangladesh, with calls for stronger intervention and global awareness.
