Mangaluru: Seminar on conservation held at St Agnes College on World Water Day

Mangaluru, Mar 24: On the occasion of World Water Day on March 22, At Agnes College (Autonomous), Management Forum and Agnes Towards Community in association with Young Indians Mangaluru organized a seminar on Water for a sustainable future: Celebrating World Water Day.

The resource speaker was Sharon D’Souza, sustainability consultant and founder of Green Xpert. She explained that the theme for this year is ‘Save the glacier.’ She highlighted on how water resources, if shared and managed cooperatively, can be a source of unity rather than conflict.

The speaker highlighted on the current global water crisis, citing facts such as over 2 billion people lacking access to clean drinking water. Furthermore, she stressed the importance of water conservation, responsible usage, and adopting simple practices like rainwater harvesting, fixing leaks, and avoiding water wastage in daily life. Real-life examples and statistics made the speech highly impactful and thought-provoking.

The session concluded with a pledge on water conservation and a message encouraging everyone to become water ambassadors and take small yet significant steps towards preserving this precious resource.

The programme was emceed by Diya, member of Management Forum, while Shifali, member of Management Forum welcomed the speaker and Iral, member of Agnes towards community proposed a vote of thanks. The session was a reminder of the people's collective responsibility towards sustainable water management.
