Panaji, Mar 24: AICC Secretary and Goa co-incharge Anjali Nimbalkar reaffirmed on Sunday that the Congress will contest the upcoming Assembly elections independently, rejecting any alliance with other parties. She emphasized that the party would only field candidates who are deeply committed to Congress ideology and principles.
Speaking at a Martyrs’ Day function in Mapusa, Nimbalkar criticized the BJP-led government in Goa, pointing to corruption, illegal land conversions, cash-for-jobs schemes, and a worsening law and order situation as key concerns affecting the state. She claimed that growing public frustration with these issues has reaffirmed Congress as the only party genuinely working for the people.

Highlighting her engagements across Goa, Nimbalkar said there was a unanimous demand from the people against forming alliances.
“Goans are clear – no alliances. Their voices will be heard, and we will ensure that our high command takes the right decision,” she asserted.
In a strong critique, Nimbalkar branded the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) as the “B-team” of the BJP, cautioning that their participation would only serve to split secular votes, ultimately benefiting the ruling party.
“If AAP and TMC enter the fray, Goa will see a repeat of Delhi’s political scenario. The people of Goa are ready to show the BJP, AAP, and TMC their place,” she stated.
She also acknowledged past challenges within Congress, admitting that some MLAs had defected for money and power. However, she assured that the party had learned from these setbacks and was now focused on strengthening its organizational structure.
“This time, we will choose candidates who are truly loyal to Congress. If we secure 25 to 27 seats, we are confident our MLAs will remain committed to the party,” Nimbalkar said.
The event saw the participation of several senior Congress leaders, including Congress Mahila President Pratiksha Narvekar, GPCC Senior Vice President M.K. Shaikh, and Media Department Chairman Amarnath Panjikar.
