CISF embarks on pan-India coastal cycle rally to commemorate its day, promote national initiatives

Mangaluru, Mar 25:The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has launched a nationwide coastal cycle rally, CISF Coastal Cyclothon-2025, to commemorate CISF Day 2025 and promote key national initiatives. The rally, flagged off on March 7, 2025, is a mission on wheels, reinforcing security across land, sea, and industry while strengthening community engagement along India's 7,500 km coastline.

Union home minister Amit Shah inaugurated the event, marking the beginning of this remarkable journey of strength, resilience, and solidarity.

A journey across India’s coastline

Hundreds of CISF cyclists are undertaking an extensive journey along India's coastline, covering diverse landscapes and engaging with communities to spread the message that security is a shared responsibility.

The rally features two dedicated teams covering the entire coastal expanse of India:

  • East Coast Team: Flagged off from Bakkhali Beach, West Bengal, covering 2,778 km to culminate in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu.
  • West Coast Team: Simultaneously flagged off from Lakhpat Fort, Gujarat, covering 3,775 km to reach Kanyakumari.
  • Total Distance: 6,553 km across 11 states and union territories, highlighting India's rich cultural and maritime heritage.

Milestones achieved so far

  • Total Distance Covered: 5,025 km (West Coast - 3,051 km, East Coast - 1,974 km).
  • Public Engagement: Over 10 lakh people have physically participated in rallies and awareness programs, with an additional 40 lakh+ engaged online.
  • Registered Cyclists: More than 1,000 participants have joined the initiative.
  • Events Conducted: 26 major cultural and awareness events, along with 118 local interactions.
  • Support from Eminent Personalities:
    • Sports icons like Neeraj Chopra, Manu Bhaker, Baichung Bhutia, Suresh Raina, and Javagal Srinath.
    • Bollywood actors including Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Manoj Bajpayee, and Milind Soman.
    • Odisha deputy chief minister Pravati Parida, Padma Shri awardee sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik, Arjuna awardee Pramod Bhagat, Odisha minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena, and Raja Shivendra Narayan Bhanjadeo, among others, have extended their support.

Mangaluru: A key milestone before Kanyakumari

Mangaluru marks a significant milestone in the rally as the West Coast team arrives in the city on March 26, after covering 3,051 km. A grand welcome is planned at Panambur Beach, featuring cultural performances celebrating Karnataka’s heritage and fostering camaraderie between CISF personnel, local communities, and dignitaries.

Following the celebrations, the rally will resume from Panambur Beach on March 27 at 6:30 AM, as cyclists continue their final leg toward Kanyakumari.

Grand finale in Kanyakumari on April 1

The rally will culminate in Kanyakumari on April 1, 2025, marking the successful completion of this ambitious journey. The event underscores CISF’s vital role in safeguarding India’s coastline, protecting ports and maritime infrastructure, and fostering trust within coastal communities.

Beyond security, CISF Coastal Cyclothon-2025 also promotes national initiatives such as Fit India, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Make in India, and Digital India, raising awareness about their impact on society.

This extraordinary journey not only highlights CISF’s commitment to national security but also strengthens the bond between citizens, communities, and the force, securing not just India's coasts but its future.
