Mangaluru: Permannur Catholic Women's Association celebrates silver jubilee

Mangaluru, Apr 23: The Catholic Women’s Association of St Sebastian Church, Permannur, celebrated its Silver Jubilee on Sunday, April 20 at 6:00 pm at the church grounds.

The programme commenced with a prayer song, followed by a welcome dance by children. Guests were then invited on stage.

The stage was presided over by parish vicar and director Fr Cyprian Pinto. Others present were parish spiritual director of the Catholic Women’s Association Fr Joseph Mascarenhas, varado president of the women’s association Lynette Castelino, advisor and superior of Bethel Convent Sr Joseph Mary, parish pastoral council vice president Arun D’Souza and secretary Jyothi D’Souza, ayog coordinator Dolphy D’Souza, superior of Nirmala Convent Sr Alphonsa, and women’s association secretary Jyothi D’Souza.

President of the association Pramila D’Souza welcomed the gathering. The programme was inaugurated by the parish vicar by watering a sapling. A report detailing 25 years of the association’s activities was presented by the secretary. The spiritual director addressed the women and shared a special message.

Four distinguished members were felicitated during the event. Advisor Sr Joseph Mary and varado president Lynette Castelino also addressed the gathering. The logo of the Catholic Women’s Association was unveiled by the parish priest.

Former presidents of the association were honoured with tokens of appreciation. The parish priest, in his presidential address, commended the association for its continued service.

All the dignitaries and attendees were presented with mementos. On the occasion, the women’s association handed over a donation of Rs 50,000 to the parish priest towards Holy Angels School.

Associate secretary Savita D’Souza delivered the vote of thanks.

Around 800 people attended the jubilee celebration. The programme was compered by Jacinta Veigas and Leena D’Souza.
