Srinivas University’s Institute of Physiotherapy concludes five-day faculty development programme

Mangaluru, Apr 26: The Institute of Physiotherapy, Srinivas University, Mangaluru, proudly hosted a five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled "Beyond the Classroom: A comprehensive faculty development journey" from April 19 to 24, at its City Campus in Pandeshwar.

The inaugural ceremony, marked by a traditional lamp-lighting and prayer, was graced by esteemed guests — Dr Flossy C R D'Souza, associate professor and vice principal at St Ann’s College of Education, Mangaluru, and Dr Thrishala Noronha, dean, Institute of Physiotherapy, Srinivas University. The welcome address was delivered by Dr Glenisha D’Souza, FDP coordinator and assistant professor.

Throughout the five days, participants engaged in enriching sessions delivered by prominent academicians and professionals:

• Day 1: Pedagogical paradigms in higher education by Dr Flossy C R D’Souza, who emphasised innovative teaching strategies like flipped classrooms and critical pedagogy.

• Day 2: Preparing research proposals for competitive grants by Dr Vijaykumar Palaniswamy, offering insights on securing research funding.

• Day 3: NCAHP Act – The future of health professionals in India by Dr M Premkumar, discussing the Act’s impact on healthcare education and professional growth.

• Day 4: Manuscript preparation for high-impact journals by Dr Dhanshree R Gunjawate, providing expert advice on scholarly writing and publication strategies.

• Day 5: Student psychology by Nisha K R, highlighting the importance of understanding and supporting student mental health and well-being.

The FDP witnessed active participation of faculty members from physiotherapy and occupational therapy departments, fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas and best practices.

The programme aimed to enhance pedagogical skills, research capabilities, and the understanding of student psychology, ultimately strengthening the academic environment. Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, reflecting the programme’s success in equipping educators with contemporary knowledge and skills.
