BJP lauds 'brave women' protesters, slams Siddaramaiah's conduct in Belagavi

Bengaluru, Apr 28: Karnataka BJP leaders on Monday praised the "courage of their women workers" who interrupted Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s speech during a Congress rally in Belagavi. The event was organised to protest against the Union government’s alleged policies and price hikes.

BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra commended the women for raising patriotic slogans and called for Siddaramaiah to apologise to both the police officer he allegedly confronted and the entire police force for his behaviour.

"I wholeheartedly salute the courageous women who stood up to Siddaramaiah. His attempts to intimidate a uniformed officer during the incident were shameful. An apology is due not just to the officer, but to the entire police community," Vijayendra stated.

During Siddaramaiah’s address, BJP’s women activists disrupted proceedings by vocally opposing his earlier comments suggesting that India should avoid conflict with Pakistan. Vijayendra accused Siddaramaiah of making remarks that could endanger national unity and claimed the women’s protest was a spontaneous outcry of true patriotism.

"The Chief Minister’s reckless words about Pakistan have deeply hurt the nation’s spirit," Vijayendra alleged. "When confronted by protesters, Siddaramaiah lost his composure and, shockingly, attempted to intimidate an Additional Superintendent of Police on stage — a display unbefitting any public office holder."

He criticised Siddaramaiah’s alleged aggressive conduct, likening it to "goonda behaviour," and said it has tarnished the dignity historically associated with the Chief Minister’s office.

“Instead of exhibiting statesmanship and restraint, Siddaramaiah behaves with increasing arrogance and displays unchecked anger towards citizens and officials alike," Vijayendra charged.

Highlighting Karnataka’s tradition of cultured politics, Vijayendra said that Siddaramaiah’s actions are eroding the state's proud political and cultural legacy. He lamented that the prestige built by past leaders is now being undermined by the Chief Minister's behaviour.

"At a time when the entire nation is united in protecting India's integrity, Siddaramaiah’s actions appear to stand in stark contrast," he remarked.

To support his allegations, Vijayendra shared a video on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), showing Siddaramaiah allegedly confronting the Additional SP, gesturing aggressively and forcing the officer to retreat.
