Mangaluru, May 7: Drug addiction is leading the youth towards ruin, and awareness campaigns and oath-taking initiatives must be organised in every Jamaat to counter this menace, said B Latheef, special public prosecutor for the Karnataka Lokayukta court.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the 21st Swalaath annual event held in the premises of Hayat-ul-Islam Badria Juma Masjid and Madrasa in Edurupadavu, Moodushedde.









"Cases related to drug abuse have been increasingly reported in recent times, and the youth are falling prey to it. If this continues, an entire generation could be lost from the mainstream of society," he expressed with concern.
The event was presided over by Mayyaddi, president of Hayat-ul-Islam Badria Juma Masjid and Madrasa. The annual Swalaath programme was led by Sayyid Ibrahim Bathisha Thangal Al Bukhari from Anekal.
Several individuals were honoured on the occasion, including M Ashraf of BHM Fruits Global Market, Kallapu; Mohammed Faizal, son of Yusuf Haji and owner of Farangipete Alangaar Beedi; Haji Mohammed Hanif of A K Old Scrap; Hussain Thodar of SPT Constructions; Hasanabba Bajpe of MH Constructions; S Aliyabba, former president of Moodushedde gram panchayat; advocate Abdul Nazeer; Abdul Razak of AR Constructions; young entrepreneur Khalid, among others.
