Panaji, May 20: A 44-year-old tourist from Gujarat had a narrow escape after slipping into the gushing Dudhsagar waterfalls while trying to click photographs — a stark reminder of the risks involved in chasing the perfect shot. The incident occurred over the weekend and has raised fresh concerns about visitor safety at popular tourist spots.
The quick-thinking and prompt action of Drishti Marine’s lifesaver, Shahnawaj Nadaf, saved the man's life. Nadaf, who was stationed near the waterfall as part of routine deployment, leapt into action and successfully pulled the tourist out of danger, preventing what could have been a tragic accident.
With Goa's tourism season gradually winding down, lifesavers reported fewer emergency calls over the weekend. However, several non-drowning incidents kept them engaged.
At Hollant beach, a young girl required immediate first aid after injuring her foot on broken glass while playing with her family. In another incident, a 23-year-old man from Bengaluru suffered an epileptic seizure while walking on Palolem beach and was attended to swiftly by lifesavers on duty. Down south near Colva beach, alert personnel assisted in reuniting a lost four-year-old boy with his anxious parents.
Drishti Marine has urged tourists to exercise caution and adhere to safety instructions, especially when visiting natural attractions like waterfalls and beaches.
