Mangaluru, May 27: As a precautionary measure, 135 care centres have been identified across Dakshina Kannada (DK) district. Officials from relevant departments have been directed to keep these care centres in a state of readiness in every taluk.
Within the Mangaluru City Corporation limits, engineers have been appointed for all 60 wards. In the jurisdiction of 223 gram panchayats, panchayat development officers have been designated, while in 13 local bodies, chief officers have been appointed as incident commanders. All commanders in the district are instructed to visit their respective areas and implement necessary precautionary and safety measures.

The Mescom and forest department have been instructed to remove dangerous tree branches or electrical wires near schools and anganwadis. Regarding school safety, incident commanders and school headmasters must conduct joint inspections and issue building safety certification.
A 25-member NDRF team has been deployed in Puttur taluk, while a 10-member SDRF team has been stationed in Subrahmanya. Additionally, 26 boats, JCB machines, tippers, cranes, and other emergency equipment have been kept in a state of preparedness to carry out rescue operations during emergencies.
