Bengaluru, May 29: Chief minister Siddaramaiah visited senior Congress leader and MLC B K Hariprasad at his residence in Bengaluru on Thursday morning and reportedly held a serious discussion on the prevailing situation in the coastal region.

During the meeting, they are said to have discussed in detail the recent spate of murders, incidents of violence, provocative speeches, and the deteriorating law and order situation in Dakshina Kannada district.

The chief minister is said to have sought Hariprasad’s advice on steps to immediately curb communal violence and overhaul the policing system in the district. Based on the discussion, a decision has reportedly been taken to immediately transfer both the superintendent of police of Dakshina Kannada and the police commissioner of Mangaluru.

They also reportedly deliberated on what needs to be done for a comprehensive reform of the district’s police administration. Sources added that the possibility of B K Hariprasad being inducted into the cabinet soon was also discussed during the meeting.

The chief minister was accompanied by his political secretary Naseer Ahmed, minister Zameer Ahmed, and others.
