Embracing new dawn: St Agnes CBSE ushers in academic year with joy, purpose

Media Release

Mangaluru, Jun 3: With skies washed clean by the monsoon rains and hearts brimming with anticipation, St Agnes CBSE School ushered in the academic year 2025–26 with a radiant spirit of renewal and purpose. More than just the start of a school term, it was a celebration of new dreams, fresh beginnings, and a shared resolve to grow, learn, and inspire.

Carrying forward the theme ‘Innovate, ignite, inspire,’ the school set the tone for a year brimming with imagination, energy, and values-driven learning. From the youngest learners stepping through a tunnel of joy to the seniors returning with renewed purpose, every moment echoed warmth, care, and the promise of a meaningful journey ahead.

The first day of school, held on June 2, began on a magical note for grade 1 students, who were greeted by cheerful clowns and welcoming smiles. Their first-day nerves quickly turned into laughter as they entered the campus accompanied by their proud and curious parents.

The little ones were guided through a tunnel of colour and joy, symbolizing the vibrant journey of learning they were about to begin. Each child received a seed to plant in a small pot a symbolic gesture of hope, growth, and nurturing. Just as these seeds will be lovingly tended, so too will the students be supported by their teachers and families throughout their academic journey.

The programme featured a prayer song, a graceful welcome dance, and a heartfelt welcome address by Sr Meena Fernandes AC, who greeted both students and parents with warmth and joy. Fun-filled games, a delightful prize distribution, and friendly interactions ensured that every child felt comfortable and cherished. After the celebration, students were gently guided to their classrooms by their teachers, marking the beginning of their educational path at St Agnes CBSE School.

Simultaneously, the students of grades 2 to 10 gathered in the Block 2 Hall for the formal Inaugural Assembly, which blended solemnity with celebration. Returning students and those new to the Agnesian family were united in a spirit of togetherness and purpose.

The event commenced with a prayer service, invoking divine guidance and blessings, followed by a cultural welcome dance that brought grace and vibrance to the atmosphere. Tr Daphny delivered the welcome address, urging students to approach the year with positivity, open hearts, and a drive to do their best.

The newly joined teachers were warmly introduced and honoured with a rose and a symbolic lamp by principal Sr Maria Sarika, signifying a new chapter in their professional journey and the light of knowledge they would share. New students were welcomed with small tokens of appreciation, making them feel instantly at home.

A special highlight of the assembly was the unveiling of the ‘Goal Tree,’ a powerful visual representation of the school’s guiding values rooted in the theme ‘Innovate, ignite, inspire.’

The tree was adorned with 10 core values:

Integrity, respect, compassion, responsibility, perseverance, gratitude, curiosity, teamwork, confidence, and discipline.

Each value represented a leaf in the canopy of growth, reminding students of the principles they are encouraged to live by throughout the year. This creative initiative provided both a visual inspiration and a moral compass for the school community.

To celebrate the joyful beginning, cakes and lollipops were distributed to all the students, adding sweetness to the day’s memories.

School warmly welcomed its kindergarten students tiny hands, wide eyes, and bright smiles filled the air with excitement on June 3. The little ones were received with lively music, joyful clowns, and loving teachers who created a cheerful and safe space for them to feel at ease.

Fun games, thoughtful gifts, and delicious cake added to the joy of their first day, ensuring that their initial steps into school life were filled with happiness and comfort. After the celebrations, the children were lovingly guided to their classrooms, where their teachers patiently helped them settle in. It was a beautiful beginning to a journey that will be marked by wonder, discovery, and friendship.

In her address to the students, principal Sr Maria Sarika AC offered gentle yet powerful words of encouragement. To the grade 1 students, she said:

“Each one of you is special. You are like tiny stars and it is your time to shine. Shine with your smiles, your kindness, and your eagerness to learn. We are here to help you grow into the beautiful lights you are meant to be.”

To the students of grades 2 to 10, her message revolved around the theme of the year. She encouraged them to live the ten values reflected in the Goal Tree, to lead with integrity, to persevere with courage, and to grow with curiosity and confidence.

She then led the students in a powerful group affirmation that echoed through the hall: “I am ready. I am accepted. I am excited. I will do my best.” These words resonated deeply, filling the space with unity, hope, and determination.

The assembly concluded with the National Anthem, marking a solemn and proud beginning to the academic year. With hearts full of hope and minds ready to explore, the students of St Agnes CBSE School are now poised to embrace a year of inspiration, innovation, and growth.

With a vibrant start, guided by strong values and community spirit, the academic year 2025–26 promises to be one of joyful learning, meaningful achievements, and transformative experiences for every Agnesian.
