Faridabad, Jun 11: In a heart-wrenching tragedy, a 45-year-old man and his four sons, aged between 3 and 10, were crushed to death by a train in Faridabad on Tuesday afternoon. The man, identified as Manoj Mahato from Bihar, allegedly jumped onto the tracks with his children following a bitter argument with his wife.

Police said Mahato left home around noon, telling his wife Priya that he was taking their sons Pawan (10), Karu (9), Murli (5), and Chotu (3) to a park. Instead, he took them to a railway track near a flyover, stopping to buy them snacks on the way.

Eyewitnesses described a chilling scene as Mahato held onto his children tightly while the Golden Temple Express approached. Despite the children’s desperate screams and the train driver’s warnings, Mahato did not move, resulting in the gruesome death of all five.

“He suspected his wife of infidelity, and that may have led to this drastic step,” said Rajpal, a railway police officer.

Police recovered a note from Mahato’s pocket with Priya’s contact number. She reportedly fainted upon arriving at the scene.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the city, raising concerns over mental health and the need for family support systems in times of domestic strife.
