Mangaluru, June 25: Eight accused in the murder case of rowdy sheeter Suhas Shetty, who was killed near Kinnipadavu Junction in Bajpe on May 1, have been remanded to the custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) by a Bengaluru court.
The NIA has registered a separate FIR in connection with the case and sought custody of the accused for further interrogation. Special Public Prosecutor Prasanna Kumar, representing the NIA, submitted the request to the 50th CCH Court in Bengaluru, which granted NIA custody of the accused until July 1.

Suhas Shetty was killed after his car was hit by a pickup truck and he was attacked with deadly weapons. A total of eight individuals were arrested in connection with the case.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Adil, the brother of Fazil—who was murdered in retaliation for the killing of BJP leader Praveen Nettaru—had financed the murder of Suhas Shetty. The case also drew attention due to alleged involvement of the banned outfit PFI and foreign funding.
Massive protests were held demanding an NIA probe, and pressure was mounted on the central government, following which the NIA officially took over the investigation. With the accused now in custody, the NIA has intensified its inquiry into the case.
