Mangaluru, Jun 27: St Agnes CBSE School, Bendore, hosted a thoughtfully envisioned parent orientation programme at the Mother Mary Centenary Block Auditorium on Thursday Jun 26, setting the stage for a collaborative and enriching academic journey. Designed for parents of students progressing from kindergarten to grade 4, the programme, titled 'Kindle: A Gentle Beginning to a Shared Journey', reflected the school’s commitment to fostering early partnerships rooted in trust, shared purpose, and holistic development.
During the symbolic welcome, Prof Mathew C Ninan an eminent educationist and director of Little Rock Indian School, Brahmavar, was ceremoniously presented with a compass by a student—an emblem of wisdom, direction, and his enduring influence as an educational guide. He was accompanied by the principal, Sr Maria Sarika; the vice principal, Sr Meena Fernandes; and the coordinator, Sr Lavi Shanti.

The formal proceedings commenced with a soulful prayer, invoking divine grace for the journey ahead, followed by a graceful welcome dance that extended warmth and joy to all in attendance. Daphny then delivered the welcome address, offering heartfelt greetings and introducing the speaker with honour and admiration.
A stalwart in the field of education, Prof Mathew C Ninan’s address offered a profound blend of academic insight and practical parenting guidance. He underscored the value of the CBSE curriculum—flexible, reform-driven, and rooted in communicative English and holistic growth. Turning to parenting, Prof Ninan urged parents to cultivate emotional intelligence alongside intellectual expectations. He emphasized the importance of listening, setting boundaries, and modelling the behaviour they wish to instil. He spoke candidly about the dangers of screen addiction, the influence of junk food, and the growing risks in digital spaces.
He also introduced the concept of Vitamin N—the ability to say 'no' with love and firmness—essential for building resilience and boundaries. Most memorably, he distilled his message into three guiding pillars of parenting: protection, affection, and direction. His address, marked by personal anecdotes, practical reflections and deep compassion, offered both reassurance and insight, leaving an indelible impact on the audience.
This was followed by a comprehensive academic and activity briefing by Neesha and Reena, the academic coordinators. Their session outlined the curriculum structure, NEP-aligned pedagogies, assessment methods, and co-scholastic opportunities, affirming the school’s vision of a well-rounded, learner-centred education.
The final address was delivered by the principal, Sr Maria Sarika, who outlined key academic guidelines while aligning them with the school’s vision and values. She introduced the three Cs—curiosity, courage, and compassion—as core traits she seeks to cultivate in students. Emphasizing mutual trust and open communication, she reaffirmed the school’s commitment to holistic, value-based education. The session concluded with an interactive segment, where she responded to parents’ questions with clarity and grace.
Theresa delivered the vote of thanks, gracefully acknowledging the dignitaries, speakers, staff, and parents for their thoughtful presence and contributions. The programme concluded with the National Anthem, closing a morning that was both insightful and purpose-driven. More than a formal event, the orientation fostered a spirit of shared responsibility and laid the foundation for a strong school-parent partnership—one that promises to shape confident, compassionate, and capable learners at St Agnes CBSE School.
