Lokayukta continues file verification at MCC amid corruption allegations

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Jun 28: Following allegations of rising corruption within the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC), Lokayukta officials have continued their investigation, scrutinising documents in the town planning department on Friday.

During the inspection, officials reportedly uncovered irregularities in the Transferable Development Rights (TDR) files. This follows an earlier raid conducted on June 21, when Lokayukta officers examined files across various MCC departments late into the night and detected multiple instances of administrative malpractice and misuse of power.

Subsequently, on June 25, officials examined files in the office of Joint Commissioner Ravi Kumar M.

On Friday, the Lokayukta team resumed file verification and has stated that a comprehensive report will be submitted to the central office. Further action will be taken based on instructions from the headquarters.

Have any officers actually been caught so far? On Friday, the Lokayukta team resumed verifying the files and stated that a detailed report will be submitted to the central office. Further action will supposedly follow based on instructions from headquarters. But when will that really happen? By the time the report is out, our DK MLA and MP might have already worked their “blessings” to ensure a clean chit and quietly bury the matter.
