Tehran, Jun 23: Iran’s chief negotiator has said that the Strait of Hormuz will never return to the way it was before the war, while assuring that Tehran will continue to fully comply with international law.
The statement came as the Iranian official was returning from the first round of talks with the United States held in Switzerland. The discussions were aimed at addressing issues emerging after the conflict and exploring possible diplomatic solutions.
The negotiator did not provide further details on what changes Iran expects in the strategic waterway, which is one of the world’s most important routes for global energy shipments.

At the same time, he stressed that Iran remains committed to international legal obligations, indicating that Tehran would maintain compliance with established maritime and international norms.
The Strait of Hormuz, located between Iran and Oman, is a critical global shipping route through which a significant portion of the world’s oil and gas supplies passes. Any disruption in the region has raised concerns over energy security and international trade.
The Switzerland talks mark the first known direct engagement between Iran and the US after the war, with both sides facing pressure to prevent further escalation and address regional security concerns.
