Panaji, Jul 5: As speculation intensifies over an impending cabinet reshuffle in Goa, Legislative Assembly speaker Ramesh Tawadkar has indicated that he is open to any responsibility the BJP leadership assigns him.
Addressing the media on Friday, Tawadkar said, “From my time as an MLA in the Opposition to my current role as Speaker, I have always followed the party’s directions. I’ve been a minister in the past, and now as Speaker, I can proudly say I’ve delivered more people-centric work in this role than before.”
His remarks come amid growing discussions within political circles following recent visits by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Calangute MLA Michael Lobo to New Delhi, where they reportedly met with senior BJP leaders.

Tawadkar also highlighted significant progress made under his ambitious Canacona Vision and Mission – 2030 initiative, noting that around 80% of proposed projects are either complete or currently in progress. “Within six months of becoming Speaker, I’ve ensured that multiple development projects were fast-tracked,” he said.
He outlined infrastructure achievements worth several crores in sectors such as PWD, water supply, electricity, and MNREGA, many of which are already underway in his constituency. Tawadkar added that forest clearances had also been secured for stalled development works in Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary regions like Tirval, Nadkem, Keri, and Avali.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sawant remained tight-lipped when asked about the potential reshuffle, stating only, “Will let you know later.” MLA Michael Lobo confirmed that while talks are ongoing, any reshuffle decision rests with the party’s central leadership, and no immediate changes are likely before the upcoming monsoon session.
The statements reflect a cautious but prepared stance within Goa's political leadership as the state awaits clarity on the possible reconfiguration of its cabinet.
