Mumbai, Aug 1: With hair fall becoming a widespread concern among women of all ages, especially during hot and humid conditions, renowned nutritionist Anjali Mukerjee has offered a natural and effective way to address the root cause of sudden hair loss.
In an Instagram video that has caught the attention of health-conscious netizens, Mukerjee asked a relatable question: “Is your hairbrush suddenly full of hair? Let’s talk.” The expert then went on to explain a commonly overlooked reason behind this alarming issue—iron deficiency.
“So if you find that you're losing a lot of hair suddenly and your hairbrush is kind of feeling full of hair and you're disturbed about that, I could give you one very important nutrient which may be deficient in you—and that nutrient is iron,” she said in the clip.
Calling anaemia one of the most prevalent yet underestimated conditions, Mukerjee pointed out that nearly 80% of the Indian population suffers from iron deficiency, especially women.
“Iron plays a vital role in transporting oxygen via blood. When iron levels are low, haemoglobin drops, reducing oxygen supply to hair follicles. This lack of nourishment causes follicles to weaken and die—leading to hair fall,” she explained.
Simple Yet Effective Solution
The good news, according to Mukerjee, is that hair fall due to iron deficiency is reversible. She suggests a three-pronged approach:
• Include iron-rich foods in your diet, such as spinach, lentils, dates, and pumpkin seeds.
• Pair iron with Vitamin C to enhance absorption.
• Consider supplements, but only after checking your iron levels through medical tests.
“You can reverse this—naturally and effectively,” the nutritionist assured.
The video has since gone viral, drawing appreciation from followers for addressing a concern that many women suffer from in silence. With rising awareness around holistic health, Mukerjee’s advice serves as a timely reminder that small dietary changes can bring about significant improvements in well-being.
