South Goa, Sep 6: The South Goa District Collector, Egna Cleetus, IAS, has announced the formation of a committee to coordinate with schools, colleges, universities, and private coaching centres to implement uniform mental health policies and promote student well-being.

The decision was taken at a District Level Monitoring Committee meeting attended by Director of Higher Education Bhushan Savaikar, Additional Collector-II Ramesh Gaonkar, and officials from Social Welfare, Women & Child Development, Health Services, Law, and Technical Education departments.

The panel will ensure appointment or referral linkages with counsellors, establish confidential reporting and redressal systems against ragging and harassment, and prominently display suicide helpline numbers. It will also conduct staff and parental sensitisation programmes and submit periodic compliance reports to the State government.

The committee is set to meet regularly to review progress, with the first compliance report due within the stipulated timeline. The District Collector has urged all educational institutions to extend full cooperation for effective implementation of the Supreme Court’s guidelines.
