Karkala: Toddler locked in police quarters room; fire personnel rescue

Karkala, Sep 14: A two-year-old boy who was accidentally locked inside a police quarters room was safely rescued by Karkala fire personnel through timely intervention on Sunday morning.

The incident occurred around 9:45 am on the second floor of C-Block at the Karkala police quarters. The child, identified as Harshavardhan, had gone inside while playing when the door locked from within, leaving him trapped. Unable to come out, his anxious parents sought help.

The fire station was immediately alerted, and personnel rushed to the spot. Acting swiftly, the team accessed the rear balcony by rappelling down with ropes from the terrace and opened the door. Within just 15 minutes, by 10 am, the child was safely rescued and handed over to his parents.

The rescue operation was carried out under the leadership of station officer Chandrashekar, along with leading firemen Achyuth Karkera, Hariprasad, Jayamoolya, Dinesh, and Basavaraj.
