Bengaluru, Sep 24: Eminent Kannada novelist S L Bhyrappa passed away on Wednesday at the age of 94.
He had been living a retired life with his family in Mysuru and was suffering from age-related ailments. Recently, he was admitted to a private hospital in Bengaluru for treatment. According to a press release from Rashtraottana Hospital, Rajarajeshwari Nagar, he passed away at 2.38 pm following a cardiac arrest.
Bhyrappa authored several acclaimed novels including Vamshavruksha, Daatu, Tantu, Parva, Gruhabhanga, Saartha, and Mandhra. His works were among the highest-selling in Kannada literature and have been translated into multiple Indian languages including Hindi, Marathi, and English.

He was the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the Sahitya Akademi Award, Saraswati Samman, Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri, and the Nadoja title.
