Special campaign on GST reduction across all constituencies till Oct 20

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (NJC)

Mangaluru, Sep 25: Dakshina Kannada MP Brijesh Chowta said that the GST rate reduction announced by the Union government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a major step in shaping the country’s economy. In this context, a special campaign will be held till October 20 in all assembly constituencies, with public interaction programmes to be conducted.

Addressing a press meet at the party office on September 25, he said that GST reforms have provided encouragement to celebrate Navaratri and upcoming festivals in a special way. Traders, entrepreneurs, and customers will benefit. In coordination with the BJP’s economic cell, awareness programmes and public interactions will be organised at shops and markets. With the GST reduction, purchasing power has increased, demand will grow, production will rise, and employment will be generated, thereby giving momentum to the country’s economic growth, he explained.

District coordinator of the economic cell, CA Shantharam Shetty, said that the reduction in GST has led to a fall in the prices of several commodities, and the direct benefit will reach the people.

District general secretary Premananda Shetty, secretary Purnima, district co-convenor of the cells Prasanna Darbe, treasurer Sanjay Prabhu, and media convenor Vasant Poojary were present.

Chowta further said that the Siddaramaiah government has been consistently adopting an anti-Hindu stance. Along with looting the state through corruption, it is attempting to divide Hindu society through a social and educational survey. By spending Rs 450 crore, new caste classifications have been created in the survey. He condemned this divisive attempt and appealed that during the survey, all Hindus should mention ‘Hindu’ in the religion column.

My friend, can you please tell the people why the GST was introduced in the first place. GST has broken the back of the businesses in India. Money has been taken away from the people and now when the Government has realised its mistake, it is tomtoming to the whole world that it is a gift to the people from Modi.

It feels like making an injury and then giving first aid. Over the past eight years, so many everyday essentials that were once completely free of tax have slowly been brought under GST. Earlier, there was no tax on clothes, no tax on milk, no tax on chappals and shoes, no tax on pharmacy or hospital services, no tax on bread, no tax in hospitals, no tax on bank transactions, no tax on school or competitive exams, no tax on entrance exams, no tax on job application fees, no tax on insurance premiums, and many more necessities that people use every day. Now GST has been revised again and again—from rates as high as 36 % on some items—and the burden still continues. Today we pay GST on Roti, Kapada Aur Makan, on milk and clothes, on exam fees and job applications, on banking transactions where we are simply moving our own money, and on many other services that once cost only their true price. What was once tax-free has gradually become a source of steady revenue, leaving ordinary citizens paying more for even the most basic needs.
