Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Feb 6: In connection with the accident that occurred near Nanthoor in the city, police have registered a case against several persons on charges of staging a protest by bringing the mortal remains of Deepti from a private hospital to the Kadri police station.

According to the police, Amit, Keerthan, Naveeth, Bharathraj, Pavan and Lokesh from Vivekanagar near Ballalbagh; Manveeth from Ballalbagh; Anil Kumar from Kankanady; Premanath from Ballalbagh; and around 50 others arrived near the Kadri police station in two-wheelers and cars along with an ambulance and formed an unlawful assembly to stage a protest.

Despite police officers and staff explaining to the protesters that such a demonstration was not appropriate, they allegedly refused to heed the advice and obstructed police personnel from performing their duties. It is also alleged that the protest caused disruption to public vehicular movement. Based on these allegations, the police have registered a case against the protesters.

Bus drivers are reckless that is left to traffic police to take action on the erring drivers with appropriate penalty and if required to suspend their driving licence. In the meantime, the public taking law in their hands or forming an unlawful assembly to stage a protest in the police station and not even heeding to the advice and obstructing them from performing their duties is not a solution in the civilized society. There are rules and legal norms to approach to the point/cause.

Protesters are in right path, seeking immediate action and justice from government. Justice cannot be denied. Put the driver in jail as life long prison. No court case , all passengers are the strong witness for the incident. Police Dept and RTO should take strict action against irresponsible driving.

With so many innocent people losing their lives due to unplanned sloppy infrastructure, & private buses being recklessly driven at breakneck speeds with nobody to straighen them, the only option for the public is to protest peacefully as per the rules laid down by the administration!

Is it wrong to seek justice??? We need to raise voices and we have all rights to speak out. An innocent life was lost. What action has the police taken regarding accidents where so many lives are lost?? That means there will be no end to the reckless driving of the bus drivers?? This is not the expected response from the police department Shame
