Udupi, Sep 27: In a shocking incident, Saifuddin, one of the owners of AKMS Tours & Travels, and a rowdy sheeter, was hacked to death at Malpe on on Saturday September 27.
Saifuddin, who was involved in the transport business based in Manipal, came under attack when unidentified assailants attacked him with swords.
Udupi superintendent of police Hariram Shankar visited the spot and reviewed the situation.



Speaking to the media after visiting the spot, Udupi district superintendent of police Hariram Shankar said, “Between 10–11 am, AKMS bus owner Saifuddin was found dead at his residence in Kodavoor. He was facing 18 cases. As per primary information, three accused attacked him in his house. It is learnt that the attackers worked in his own company. The motive of the attack and those behind it will be revealed after taking the accused into custody. The attack was carried out using a talwar, and bleeding was noticed in many places. The accused have been identified as drivers of the AKMS bus company.”
Police have identified the accused as Faizul Khan of Udupi and Sharief of Doddangudde. According to the complaint filed by Saifuddin's son, Faizul Khan and Sharief took Saifuddin to Mangaluru to discuss matters related to the bus business. Saifuddin and Faizul Khan left his house near Coin Circle, Manipal, around 10:00 am in his car.
However, due to enmity, Faizul Khan, Sharief, and others took Saifuddin (52) to Malpe with the intention of killing him. Between 10:15 am and 11:30 am, they allegedly hacked him to death with a machete near Nagabana in Kodavoor village, Udupi taluk, and later fled in the car.
Based on the complaint filed by Saifuddin’s son, a case has been registered at Malpe police station.
