Mangaluru, Oct 2: The High Court has issued an interim stay order on the district administration’s decision to appoint PDO-level junior rank officer Naveen Hegde as in-charge municipal commissioner of Ullal city municipal council. Following this, deputy commissioner Darshan has withdrawn the appointment order and relieved Naveen Hegde of the post.

Tejamurthy, assistant executive engineer at the district urban development cell in Mangaluru, has now been appointed as the in-charge municipal commissioner of Ullal city municipal council.

Earlier, Naveen Hegde, who was serving as revenue officer in Ullal city municipal council, was appointed as in-charge commissioner on May 31 by the district administration to fill the vacant post. However, advocate Afzal had submitted a petition to the Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner on August 5, alleging that Hegde was functioning as in-charge commissioner without any government circular, order or directive, and that no action was being taken due to political influence.

Subsequently, advocate Afzal questioned Hegde’s appointment before the High Court. Considering his petition, the High Court has now issued an interim stay on the appointment order of Naveen Hegde as in-charge commissioner of Ullal city municipal council.
