Bantwal: Man dies after being hit by auto-rickshaw while crossing road

Bantwal, Oct 3: A man lost his life after being hit by an auto-rickshaw while crossing the road at Amtur Cross in Kalladka, Bantwal taluk.

The deceased has been identified as Lokesh Moolya (44), a resident of Subhash Nagar, Sajipa Mooda village.

Lokesh was crossing the road in front of Nayara petrol pump, Kalladka, when an over-speeding auto-rickshaw hit him. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which then overturned.

Lokesh sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a private hospital in Mangaluru. However, he succumbed to his injuries during the early hours, police sources informed.

The driver’s wife, children, and father-in-law were travelling in the auto-rickshaw at the time of the accident, but all escaped unhurt.

Lokesh was an active member of the Sri Sharada Pooja Mahotsava Committee in Subhash Nagar and was socially and religiously involved in many programmes.

He is survived by his wife, two children, and a large circle of relatives.
