Udupi: MCC Bank inaugurates 21st branch, 13th ATM at Kallianpura-Santhekatte

Udupi, Oct 5: MCC Bank Ltd inaugurated its 21st branch and 13th ATM at Kallianpura-Santhekatte, Udupi, on Sunday, October 5. The new branch is located on the ground floor of J S Square, Kallianpura Santhekatte, Udupi.

The branch was inaugurated by the chairman, Sahakara Ratna Anil Lobo. Dr Roque D’Souza, parish priest of Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte, blessed the new premises.

The ATM was inaugurated by Fr Denis D’Sa, PRO of the Udupi Diocese and parish priest of Thottam Church. Umesh Shetty, president of the Karavali Co-operative Society, Kallianpura-Santhekatte, made the first withdrawal from the ATM.

The safe room was inaugurated by Msgr Ferdinand Gonsalves, vicar general of the Udupi Diocese, and the e-stamping facility was inaugurated by Kishore Kumar, pastor of St Paul Church, Subramanya Nagara.

The inaugural programme was presided over by Sahakara Ratna Anil Lobo, chairman of the Bank. The event was graced by Yashpal Suvarna, MLA for Udupi  and Msgr Ferdinand Gonsalves, who were the chief guests. Other guests of honour included were Dr Roque D’Souza – parish priest, Mount Rosary Church, Kishore Kumar – pastor, St Paul Church, Subramanya Nagara & president, Udupi Zonal Council (CSI, KSD), Fr Denis D’Sa – PRO, Udupi Diocese, Dr Vincent Alva – principal, Milagres College, Kallianpura, Veronica Carnelio – former president, Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Ltd., Janab M S Khan – former president, Udupi District Minority Vedike and Umesh Shetty – president, Karavali Co-operative Society, Kallianpura-Santhekatte.

In his presidential address, Sahakara Ratna Anil Lobo expressed gratitude to the local institutions and the public for their support during the branch setup. He thanked Dr Gerald Pinto, director, for his efforts in organising the inauguration and expressed appreciation to all the dignitaries for their blessings.

He highlighted that MCC Bank offers all modern banking services comparable to those of private and public sector banks, with minimal service charges, and in some cases, no charges. He noted that MCC Bank has extended its operations throughout Karnataka, and only co-operative bank in the state offering NRI banking services. He sought continued cooperation from the people of Santhekatte to ensure the success of the new branch.

Yashpal Suvarna, MLA, congratulated the team on opening their 21st branch and praised their commitment to cooperative banking. He also recalled his professional association with chairman Anil Lobo and promised his continued support to MCC Bank.

Fr Denis D’Sa congratulated the Bank and emphasised the values of truth, trust, and tolerance as pillars of institutional success. He praised the chairman for his humble and positive approach to challenges and people. Kishore Kumar congratulated the Bank and extended his best wishes for its future growth.

Msgr Ferdinand Gonsalves lauded the rapid progress of the Bank over the past 8 years, commending the dedication of the chairman, board of directors, and staff.

Janab M S Khan, Veronica Carnelio, and Dr Vincent Alva, also addressed the gathering with encouraging and appreciative remarks.

As recognition of the noble service rendered, the heads of institutions of The Happy Home for the Aged and Noor Ul Furqan Santhekatte were presented with cheque of Rs 25,000 each from the Bank’s Charity Fund.

The bulletin of MCC Bank, Volume 4, Issue 2, was released during the occasion. Editor Dr Gerald Pinto and sub-editor  Sherry Asna were present.

Leona Olivera – finalist of MCC Bank Jigibigi Thara season 2 and second place winner in the Konkani Natak Sabha singing competition, Dr Godwin D'Souza, who has been appointed as Controller of Examinations at St Joseph’s University, and  Nishalin Kundar – Miss India Pride of India 2025, were honoured during the occasion.

President & office-bearers of Co-op Societies of Santhekatte vicinity were honoured. Local schools and colleges that achieved excellent results were felicitated. Accademic achievers in SSLC and PUC of Santhekatte area were felicitated.

Top customers who opened accounts at the new branch were honoured. The chairman also honoured office-bearers of the parish pastoral council of various churches in the Santhekatte region for their support.

Dr Gerald Pinto, branch in-charge director, welcomed the dignitaries and guests.

Chief guests and guests of honour were presented with mementos as tokens of appreciation.

Jayaram Sheena Shetty and Nayana Jayaram Shetty, owners of the premises; Karthik Kiran, civil engineer; Umesh Shetty, owner of who helped for the inauguration programme and Joy Peter D’Souza, who saved the life of a youth attempting suicide, were honoured during the event.

Vice Chairman Jerald Jude D’Silva, directors Andrew D'Souza, David D'Souza, Melwyn Vas, J P Rodrigues, Anil Patrao,  Herold Monteiro, Roshan D'Souza, Elroy Kiran Crasto, Sushanth Saldanha, Felix Dcruz and Alwyn P Monteiro, general manager Sunil Menezes were present on the occasion.

The programme began with a prayer song by the Bank staff.

Ajith Pristal D’Souza, branch manager of the Kallianpura-Santhekatte Branch, delivered the vote of thanks, and Steevan Colaco compered the event.
