Kasargod, Oct 7: A tragic incident occurred in Kadambar under Manjeshwar police jurisdiction, where a young couple allegedly died by suicide by consuming poison. The deceased have been identified as Ajith (35) and his wife Shweta (27).

Ajith was a painting worker, and Shweta worked as a private school teacher at Varkadi Bakery Junction. The incident took place on Monday, following which both were admitted in critical condition to Deralakatte Hospital. Ajith succumbed to his injuries on Monday night, while Shweta passed away on Tuesday morning.

On Monday, Ajith had reportedly gone with his three-year-old son to his sister’s house in Bandiyodi. He informed her that he was going elsewhere and requested her to look after his son. After leaving the child at his sister’s home, Ajith and Shweta allegedly consumed poison. Later in the evening, neighbours found them lying on their house veranda and rushed them to the hospital, but both succumbed due to severe poisoning.

Initial police reports indicate financial distress as a possible reason behind the act. The Manjeshwar police have registered a case and are conducting a detailed investigation.

We pay so much taxes only for govt to give free handouts and reservations to some section of society. Reservations which their children and their children keep on continuing like leeches sucking on blood, when hardworking people like these are forced to take such harsh decisions. Country is going to die if this continues
