Dr Duming Dias appointed apostolic administrator of Shimoga diocese

Mysuru, Oct 7: The Apostolic Nuncio to India and Nepal, Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli, announced the appointment of the present bishop of Karwar, Dr Duming Dias, as the apostolic administrator of the Shivamogga Diocese.

The announcement was made in Mysuru, following directives from the Holy See. Dr Duming Dias, who has been serving as the bishop of Karwar, will now additionally oversee the administration of the Shivamogga Diocese until a new bishop is appointed.

Dr Duming Dias, known for his pastoral leadership and commitment to community development, was ordained as bishop of Karwar in 2017. His appointment as apostolic administrator reflects the Vatican’s trust in his administrative and spiritual guidance.

Further details regarding the transition and administrative arrangements are expected to be announced by the diocese soon.
