Bihar deputy CM Vijay Sinha compares Lalu Prasad Yadav to Dhritarashtra over son Tejashwi

New Delhi, Oct 8: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Vijay Sinha has likened RJD founder Lalu Prasad Yadav to Dhritarashtra from the Mahabharata, saying the veteran politician has become blind out of love for his son and party leader Tejashwi Yadav.

In the epic Mahabharata, Dhritarashtra, the blind king of Hastinapur, is remembered for blindly supporting his 100 sons, including Duryodhana. Sinha invoked this reference to suggest that Lalu Yadav, despite being in the twilight of his political life, continues to influence Bihar’s politics solely out of affection for his son.

“Lalu Yadav is at the final threshold of his life, but due to his love for his son, he has become Dhritarashtra. To register his presence in politics, Lalu Yadav keeps defaming Bihar and writing whatever he wants,” Sinha said.

The remark follows Lalu Yadav’s recent swipe at the NDA after the Election Commission announced Bihar’s poll dates for November 6 and 11, with his post on X reading, “6 aur 11, NDA nau do gyarah”, implying that the NDA will “run” after the elections.

This is not the first instance of Sinha using the Dhritarashtra jibe against Lalu Yadav. Earlier, he had criticised the former Chief Minister for attempting to create unrest in Bihar, saying, “Like Dhritarashtra, blinded by affection for his sons, they are once again trying to disrupt social harmony to destroy the state. But now, Biharis will not tolerate it.”
