New Delhi, Oct 10: An Air India flight from Vienna to New Delhi, AI154, was diverted to Dubai on October 9 due to a suspected technical issue, the airline said. The aircraft landed safely, underwent necessary checks, and departed after a delay.

An Air India spokesperson said, “All passengers were informed of the delay and provided refreshments. The flight departed at 08:45 IST. We regret the inconvenience caused. Passenger and crew safety remains our top priority.”

This comes shortly after another incident on October 4, when Air India flight AI117 from Amritsar to Birmingham, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, deployed its Ram Air Turbine (RAT) during final approach. Despite the emergency deployment, all electrical and hydraulic systems were found normal, and the aircraft landed safely.

The RAT is a fold-out windmill-like device that generates emergency power if the plane loses main electrical or hydraulic systems, ensuring control of critical flight instruments and hydraulic surfaces. Following the Birmingham landing, the aircraft was grounded for inspections, leading to the cancellation of the return flight AI114. Air India is arranging alternative travel for affected passengers.
