Mangaluru: Rs 3.5 lac cash stolen from wholesale store in Surathkal

Mangaluru, Oct 11: A major theft was reported at a wholesale shop located in front of the Surathkal market, where cash amounting to Rs 3.5 lac was stolen. The incident came to light on Friday when the shop owner arrived to open the store.

It was discovered that the lock of the shop had been broken during the night. According to reports, the owner, Shameer, usually takes the day’s cash home after business hours. However, on Thursday night, he had kept Rs 3.5 lac in a drawer and locked the shop before leaving, as he was scheduled to make some payments the following day.

Upon discovering the theft, the owner immediately informed the Surathkal police, who visited the spot along with fingerprint experts and a dog squad to gather evidence.

Police sources said that the suspect’s movements have been captured on nearby CCTV cameras, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprit.
