Jaipur, Oct 11: Rajasthan Intelligence on Friday arrested Mangat Singh, a 32-year-old resident of Govindgarh, Alwar, for allegedly spying on behalf of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The arrest was made under the Official Secrets Act, 1923, following a detailed investigation by the CID Intelligence Unit.

Authorities said Singh’s suspicious activities were first flagged during surveillance of Alwar’s cantonment area, prompting close monitoring. The investigation reportedly revealed that Singh had been in regular contact with ISI handlers, providing sensitive information in exchange for financial incentives. He was allegedly honey-trapped by a female handler operating under the pseudonym Isha Sharma, who lured him into espionage activities. Singh’s communications with Pakistani operatives via social media reportedly spanned two years.

The arrest forms part of Operation Sindoor, an initiative by Rajasthan Intelligence to counter espionage in strategic locations, particularly in Alwar due to its proximity to the National Capital Region (NCR). The case was registered at the Special Police Station in Jaipur, and Singh was taken into custody the same day.

Rajasthan Police have recently intensified their counter-espionage operations. On October 10, Mahendra Prasad was arrested in Jaisalmer for allegedly leaking sensitive DRDO information, and Hanif Khan was apprehended last week for passing army secrets to ISI operatives. Authorities said the CID Intelligence Unit remains on high alert to protect India’s national interests.
