Islamabad, Oct 11: A deadly suicide attack on the Ratta Kulachi Police Training School in Dera Ismail Khan district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, late Friday night led to a fierce five-hour gun battle, leaving six police personnel and six terrorists dead, officials confirmed on Saturday.

The attack began when terrorists rammed an explosives-laden truck into the main gate, triggering a massive blast before storming the compound in military and police uniforms. Police retaliated swiftly, killing three assailants in the initial exchange and later neutralising three more during a clearance operation.

According to officials, over 200 trainees and staff members were safely evacuated. Thirteen policemen sustained injuries and were shifted to nearby hospitals. The operation was jointly conducted by SSG commandos, Al-Burq Force, Elite Force, and local police, under the supervision of DPO Sahibzada Sajjad Ahmed and RPO Syed Ashfaq Anwar.

Inspector General Zulfiqar Hameed confirmed that the area has been completely secured and a search operation is ongoing. He hailed the bravery of the officers and paid tribute to the fallen personnel, announcing rewards for the team involved in the counter-operation.
