Dubai, Oct 14: The Gammat Kalavider Dubai UAE team, which has been entertaining drama lovers in the UAE for several years, captivated the audience once again with the premiere of its latest Tulu play ‘Ponaga Konopara..?’ staged on October 11 at the Emirates Theatre, Umm Al Seef. The show received an overwhelming response, earning the distinction of a ‘houseful show’.
The event was organized as part of Gammat Kalavider Dubai’s 14th annual celebration, marking yet another milestone for the popular Tulu theatre group.









The programme was graced by several distinguished guests, including Dr B R Shetty, Dr M J Praveen Bhatt, president of Sion Kannada Sangha, Mumbai, renowned diving expert and social worker Eshwar Malpe, Walter Nandalike, founder & managing director of Daijiworld media, Michael D’Souza, managing director of Ivory Grand, Vishanth Menezes, producer of the Tulu movie Kajja, Praveen Shetty, president of UAE Bunts, Sarvotham Shetty, president of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, and Harish Sherigar of ACME Building Materials. All the guests extended their best wishes to the team for their commendable performance.
During the event, senior artistes of Gammat Kalavider, Jasmit Vivek and Monappa Poojary, were felicitated for their valuable contributions to the Tulu theatre.
Additionally, Eshwar Malpe, a renowned diving expert and social worker, was also honoured in recognition of his selfless service. He was conferred the title ‘Tulunad Sevagresare’, and his family received financial assistance from the Gammat Kalavider team as a token of appreciation.
The play, based on an original story by Dinakar Bhandari Kananjar, was directed by Vishwanath Shetty, with creative composition by well-known theatre director Jagadish Shetty Kenchanakere. ‘Ponaga Konopara..?’ was presented in a distinctive style that deeply resonated with the audience.
Following its highly successful debut, the play has reportedly drawn strong demand for repeat performances in the UAE.
Lavin Fernandes, president of Gammat Kalavider, Deepthi Dinaraj Shetty, secretary, Jesh Baiyar, treasurer, and Harish Bangera, chief patron, were present on the stage.
The programme was compered by Rajesh Kuthar and Chitra Shetty, who kept the evening lively and engaging.
